Congo Girls United is recognized 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that serves to empower Congolese women and girls and their respective communities through education, mentorship, networking and volunteerism support. We work to enhance, enrich and empower the lives of Congolese girls through programs, workshops and events that will serve and highlight their utmost potential and provide resources that prepares them for personal development, educational, political and economic success.
Our mission is explored in different ways but we highly believe in empowering change from the grassroots level to the global scene and fostering relationships between those in DRC and those in Diaspora through our offered programs and resources.
Our vision is to see world where Congolese girls and women are fully nurtured and empowered to reach their fullest potential. We believe Congolese girls and women are the missing pieces to the question of development and progress in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and our objective is to create and elevate long-term agents of change in their global community, and in the long-term for the Democratic Republic of Congo. We work to contribute to a world where Congolese girls and women are viewed as relevant assets to all sectors of impact within their communities whether it be in the United States or in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By providing this platform, we are encouraging girls and women in Congo and diaspora to become a part of a movement that will dispel myths about the potentiality of the Congolese girl and woman, and break down gender disparities that cripple the foundational successes of the Congolese woman and her community.
We are here not only for advocacy, but to see the change take place.
Within CGU, our goal is to create specific projects to address various issues affecting Congolese girls and women in their respective communities. We aim to empower educationally, advocate, and service as agents of change.
The Legacy scholarship addresses the issue of institutional education, and encourages Congolese girls to think differently about how they can build their legacies by obtaining an education.
Through our mentorship program, we service our signed members and high school boys of all ages the opportunity to learn and cultivate their skills and ambitions under the guidance of a successful mentor, from various walks of life, careers, and ambitions. Mentorship is tailored to individual needs and future aspirations and goals.
Everyone is afforded the opportunity to attend networking events tailored for their success.
S.E.E INITIATIVE equips Congolese high school students with the tools/resources needed to succeed in secondary school and beyond.
We encourage participants to get involved in their direct communities by means of advocacy and service. In partnership with various, domestic and global organizations, we are able to give our girls and women, the opportunity to be involved, and to give back to their respective community through service.
